Our founder Peter Moore went to a trade fair SeaWork on Thursday 13th June, 2019 at the Mayflower Park, Southampton. Despite a rainy outdoor setting there were plenty of firms exhibiting under large marquees.
Peter was looking at possible workboats and one that took his eye was the Chasewell 9m hybrid patrol vessel. Made at Wight shipyard on the Isle of Wight, powered by conventional diesel engines but with twin 20kw electric motors www.wightshipyard.com Also of interest were Chartwell Marine.
He also made contact with:
- Ernst-Jan Kouveld at www.Orca-Crew.com, an agent for supplying crew to ships.
- Alec MacLean BEng a naval architect with www.walkermarinedesign.co.uk from Hamble-le-Rice, Southampton.
- Martin Antrobus, from www.workboatsales.com. Buying, selling and hiring workboats worldwide.
- Neil Finlay MBE FCMS from Southampton who is a marine and dredging consultant with a world of knowledge about workboats.
Thank you to everyone who shared their knowledge and advice.
He also met Kevin Gaskell and Chris Hodgson, two of the Ocean 5 crew who are participating in an Atlantic rowing race from the Canary Islands to Antigua starting in December as part of the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge. www.theocean5.com
We wish them well and we'll be following their progress.

A really useful day in which Peter made some more great contacts for the Plasticseize project.
